WHO WILL BE THE 2017 “NELLE CARTER WOMAN OF THE YEAR”?Nominations are now being accepted for the “Nelle Carter Woman of the Year” Award!!!The deadline for the nomination submissions is April 7th, 2017. CLICK HERE for the Woman of the Year Nomination Form 2017. The award will be presented at “Best Western Plus Mariposa Inn & Conference Centre” on Wed. May 10th, 2017 and hosted by the Orillia Business Women’s Association (OBWA). The OBWA is very excited to announce that “Carey Moran” from KICX FM will MC the awards dinner once again this year. At this awards Gala the OBWA will also present the recipient of the Young Women of the Year chosen from 4 high schools in Orillia. Nominees for the “Nelle Carter Woman of the Year” Award (Women of Distinction) may be from any of the following areas: City of Orillia, Township of Ramara, Township Of Oro-Medonte, Township of Severn and The Chippewas Of Rama First Nation. The award is named for the late Nelle Carter who was an inspiration to women in our area. She was president of the family business, president of the Orillia Quota Club, the first woman elected to Orillia Council as Alderman and active in St. Paul’s United Church. The recipient of the award represents Nelle Carter’s high standards and value. This is an opportunity to nominate a woman who, in your opinion, meets this criteria in both her business/volunteer and personal life: achieves excellence in her place of work; has the ability to strive for higher goals; works as a volunteer to improve the lives of individuals in her community or contributes to society in her own way; demonstrates leadership in ideas and new initiatives; or has done something in particular with respect to any of the above activities which would make her a “Woman of Distinction”.
The OBWA Gala Committee still has a few spots available for Sponsorships for the Woman of the Year Gala Event. The cost to be a sponsor is $250.00 and this is a great way to support the WOTY 2017, and receive great exposure for your business. We are also in need for Door Prizes for the WOTY Gala Event. If you choose to offer a door prize you are more than welcome to bring it to the next dinner meeting on April 12 or talk to any of the OBWA Executive Members or Gala Committee Member so we may arrange to get it before the gala.
If you would be interested in having a poster displayed at your place of business to help promote The Woman of Year Gala Event? If you cannot make an online ticket purchase for WOTY Gala tickets please call or text Sharon Van Noort at 705-790-7427.
