The Orillia Business Women’s Association continues to present the Annual Nelle Carter Woman of the Year Award.  Nominees are considered Women of distinction and are honored at the Awards dinner.  Nominees need not be members of the Orillia Business Women’s Association, they need not own nor work in business, and they may be nominated even if they have been nominated in the past.

Five outstanding professional individuals will stand as judges, who will remain anonymous except for the person who nominated them.  They make their decisions independent of one another and this Association.  Judges are leaders within the community and surrounding areas, well known to the citizens of the Orillia area.

The successful candidate will be announced at the annual dinner and will receive a free lifetime membership with the Orillia Business Women’s Association.  The Twenty Seventh Annual Woman of the Year Awards dinner will be held on Wednesday, May 9th, 2018 at the Best Western Mariposa Plus.  Tickets are available to anyone in the community at $50.00 per person and must be purchased in advance.  For ticket information, please call (705) 325-6292 or purchase through our website OBWA.  We encourage you and your nominee supporters to attend the Awards Dinner to share in the evening.

We are excited to be preparing for our Woman of the Year and Young Woman of the year at our 27th GALA EVENT, May 9, 2018.

OBWA was formed in 1987 and this year we are hosting the 27th Nelle Carter Woman of the Year & Lisa Brooking Young Woman of the Year Awards. The Woman of the Year Award is given to a woman respected for her outstanding work in her community, in the workplace, at home, or all three. The Young Woman of the Year must demonstrate high scholastic achievement, participation in extra school activities, and volunteer work in the community and be seeking post-secondary education; the chosen recipient as “Young Woman of the year” is given a $500.00 Award.
