OBWA HOLIDAY PARTY!!!
The Orillia Business Women’s Association (OBWA) meets every second Wednesday of the Month (September thru June) at the Best Western PLUS Mariposa INN and Conference Centre at 400 Memorial Ave. Orillia for networking events, fun and delicious food.
OBWA PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE 'Tis the season. The hustle and bustle; the vendors shows, parades, shopping and family events. I hope you take a little time for some fun and relaxation by joining us at the OBWA Christmas Dinner Party. Enjoy some laughs, participate in the fanciest hat contest, belt out some songs, dance to DJ 2 the Max, and we will, of course, have a delicious traditional turkey dinner. Remember to reserve your dinner before 3pm on December 6. Let your girlfriends know. This is always a really fun night.
We are asking you, if you can, to bring some goodies that are packaged and priced to put on the bake table. If you would like to take part in the Christmas "Right and Left" game you need to bring a wrapped gift (approx. cost $15) that any of the women would love to receive. This is optional, of course. There will be a bit of business to take care of and a very special surprise for one of our members.
As the end of the year approaches we can look back over the past year and reflect on the good and the bad, the ups and the downs. Let's be grateful for it all. What we have learned will make the upcoming year even better. This year at the OBWA was filled with many changes which are sometimes difficult to accept but the current executive always does what we feel is best for the group. We have included you in the decision making of important issues because this is YOUR group. Continue to give us your feedback and share ideas. We have all made new connections and friends, shared our businesses and ideas and empowered one another. That is true networking.
If you haven't signed up for the 2020 Business Showcase, you must do so at this meeting. Remember you must be a paid member to be a vendor. Being a vendor is optional. It is a great way to learn more about the members. If you aren't participating you are more than welcome to come see what the members have to share and to enjoy the dinner. And remember to invite your friends to the dinners. Make this your commitment to the group. We welcome ALL women whether in business or not.
In closing if you want 2020 to be your year, don't sit on the couch and wait for it. Go out. Make a change. Smile more. Be excited. Do new things. Throw away the clutter. Un-follow negative people on social media. Go to bed early. Go to bed late. Wake up whenever you want and be fierce. Don't gossip. Show more gratitude. Do things that challenge you. Be brave. And may you never be too grown up to search the skies on Christmas eve ;o)

As an Executive Committee we proposed changes to the OBWA Bylaws at our November meeting. A vote was taken and the proposed changes were passed. Please check OBWA website for the changes.
