President’s Message
June 2021! And it’s going to be a fabulous one!
Monday June 21 is National Indigenous Peoples Day. With the atrocities against these proud people that have recently been discovered, it is more important than ever to remember and honour them today, tomorrow and always. Please take a moment on June 21st as the official day of recognition, of the suffering the children, their parents, families and following generations have endured at the hands of those in “Canadian authority”. They are our history, and deserve to have their story and truth told. Bless the children.
For our Zoom meeting on Wednesday June 9th, at 730 p.m. we will be inviting previous recipients of the Woman of the Year Award to join us. It will be great to hear what these women have been doing since they were awarded for their commitment to their community. We are now accepting nominations for Woman of the Year 2021. Applications will appear on our website shortly. Please reach out to join us and have a few smiles and hopefully belly laughs with us. Please join us even if it’s just by audio!! We miss you!!!!
As there have been some inquiries, over the next couple of weeks I will continue to send out individual emails to members as a reminder of when their 2021 discounted membership fees are due. We would like to keep everything as organized, current and up to date as possible and I thank you in advance for your assistance in this endeavour.
Lastly, I would like to personally thank our OBWA Executive for their hard work and dedication to keeping our organization up and running during the pandemic. Without these ladies we would not continue to have our Galas, Zoom Meetings, updated emails, membership lists, Facebook and website posts, and everything in between.
Our next Zoom Membership Meeting will be in September, but you can continue to pay your Membership Dues, post on Facebook and contact us through our email as your executive will still be working diligently throughout the summer.
