Stefanie Brissette DD obtained her Denturist Diploma by attending George Brown College and graduating with honors in 2009. Since graduating Stefanie obtained experience working at Webber Dental Lab as a denture technician before becoming an associate at the Brampton Denture Clinic. Working as an associate for over 5 yrs provided Stefanie with vast knowledge and experience in the field of Denturism. Stefanie now owner and operator of Orillia Denture Clinic uses her knowledge and experience to provide exceptional quality and service to every patient that she sees. When the time came for her to find a place to call home, she chose a place close to her roots in Penetanguishene. " I feel that being in Orillia means I can still have the comforts of the city but be close to the water, cottage country and practice in a more relaxed environment. This is important to me because I believe that by being in a more relaxed environment I can provide an even better experience for my patients by taking more time to get to know each individual. So far I'm loving the Sunshine City". Though it was difficult for Stefanie to leave friends, family and colleagues, she is working on recruiting them to Orillia, even if just for a visit.

Full Dentures

• Replace all the teeth on the upper and/or lower ridge

• A full upper denture uses suction to stay in place. In most cases there is no need for denture adhesives

• A full lower denture will not get suction like an upper and may require adhesive or implants to stay in place

Warning signs that you may require a new full denture include:

  • Poor fit

  • Worn teeth that have become flat

  • Pronounced lower jaw/chin

  • Creases at the corner of the mouth

  • Impaired speech

  • Inability to chew food properly resulting in indigestion, gas, bloating, or loss of appetite

*Note; Most often a new full denture can restore aesthetic… and function

Partial Dentures

• Partial dentures improve esthetics, restore function and maintain tooth position in the mouth when one or more

teeth are missing but not all.

• A partial denture can prolong the life of remaining teeth in the mouth by preventing twisting, tilting and drifting of

the other teeth into the open space.

• An implant over denture can either be a partial or full denture. The implants snap into the denture and improve fit

   and function.

• Implants on a full upper denture require a minimum of 4 to be stable. A full upper denture with implants does not

rely on suction for fit and can be a horseshoe shape, benefiting those with a sensitive gag reflex.

• Implants on a full lower denture provide stability that would not be there otherwise. They decrease pressure on the

gums while increasing biting force, fit and quality of life

• Note; A minimum of 2 implants are required on a full lower denture

• Implants on a partial denture can improve esthetics's when clasps are undesirable. They can also give added support

when only 1 tooth is remaining.

Implants

Precision Attachments

• Precision attachments are used in conjunction with partials to improve aesthetics when clasps are undesirable

• Are made of a special material that flexes under pressure, but resists breaking.

•They are recommended when there is and allergy to acrylic and/or metal, or when simply preferred.

*Note; If broken this material cannot be repaired

Flexible Partials

• Are a soft material added to an acrylic denture to improve comfort on sensitive gums.

• Typically used in full lower dentures to reduce pressure.

• Recommended for individuals with very flat lower gums.

Soft Liners

• Immediate/Transitional Dentures are made prior to having teeth extracted.

• They act as a Band-Aid in the mouth reducing swelling and protecting the extraction, to immediately restore

   aesthetic and function.

• They are to be worn during the healing process approximately 3-5 months and no longer than 1 year.

• Once the healing is complete they must either be relined or replaced with a new denture due to significant changes

   in the mouth post extraction.

mmediate/Transitional Dentures

Relines

A denture reline, can improve the fit of a denture when changes in the mouth have occurred

*Note; A denture reline is only recommended when the teeth on a denture are not visibly worn or flat.

Most repairs can be done in the same day.

*Note; If a denture is visibly worn or if a repair will not correct the reason as to why it is breaking a new denture is recommended.

Repairs

Whitening

To lighten the color of natural teeth, for improved aesthetics.
