DECEMBER 2018 - OBWA NETWORKING & DINNER MEETING
 The Orillia Business Women’s Association (OBWA) meets every second Wednesday of the Month (September thru June) at the Best Western Mariposa INN and Conference Centre at 400 Memorial Ave. Orillia for Networking, Fun, Food and to hear a wonderful Guest Speaker.
OBWA PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
First of all, if I can encourage you to read the bulletin to the very end so you have all the details of our December dinner meeting which is our annual Christmas Party. Thank you.
As 2018 comes to a close we can look back over the past year and reflect on the good and the bad, the ups and the downs. In anticipation of a new year ahead let’s be grateful that we made it! Let’s start the new year in a positive mindset. There are so many opportunities that lay ahead. We had a fantastic year in the OBWA. We enjoyed many delicious dinners and interesting and informative speakers. We organized an incredible Woman and Young Woman of the Year Gala, and the year ended with a fun Christmas party. We initiated some changes and we understand change can be difficult but the Executive discusses everything and makes decisions on what it thinks best fits the group. Continue giving us feedback. We continue to see growth in the group and best of all, we have all made new friends, shared our businesses and empowered one another. Just a few reminders of what to expect at the December party. We will continue the tradition of the Crazy Christmas Hat contest. Always a lot of laughs. We will again have the bake table (this helps us raise money for the annual gala) where members and guests can bring goodies packaged and priced to sell. This is optional and not a requirement to attend. We will also play the Roll the Dice Game which was really fun last year. To participate you would purchase a gift and wrap it. Again this is optional. We do expect the gifts to be a value of $15 and purchased new. It is only fair to those who take part that the gifts be valued the same at $15 and are new. We do not expect you to take part if you can’t put out the money. It is still fun to watch. We will be having a traditional turkey dinner with all the fix-ins. In preparation for the Business Showcase in January, there will be a sign-up sheet if you want to secure a table to showcase your business/service. More information will follow in the next bulletin and you can always contact an Executive member for details. It is optional to participate but it is a great way to show the members what you are all about.
In closing, if you want 2019 to be your year, don’t sit on the couch and wait for it. Go out. Make a change. Smile more. Be excited. Do new things. Throw away the clutter. Unfollow negative people on social media. Go to bed early. Wake up early. Be fierce. Don’t gossip. Show more gratitude. Do things that challenge you. Be brave and, my favourite, may you never be too grown up to search the skies on Christmas Eve.

Gift Exchange Game: 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
Please note that in order to participate in the gift exchange,
you must bring a wrapped gift valued at $15 and in turn will receive one while having a merry time!
Crazy Hat Contest: Take out your craziest hat and win a prize!
Contest winner will be determined by the membership following the gift exchange.

Note: We cannot accept late registrations or walk-ins and there is **NO ATM ON-SITE**
If you have any allergies or dietary preferences please let us know in your email at the time you RSVP.
IMPORTANT: Please notify us by 3 p.m., Monday, December 10th, 2018, if you need to cancel.
NO CANCELLATIONS will be accepted after the date and time noted and you will be responsible for the cost of your missed dinner. We thank you for your cooperation and understanding as we have to pay for all meals reserved.
