Vice-President’s Message March 2024
Happy March! If you're looking for an "occasion", March has several! March 2nd is St. David's Day, March 8th is International Women's Day March 17th is St. Patrick's Day and March 31 is Easter.
With this in mind, we have decided to SHOWCASE our amazing women! We'll be sending a separate email to our paid Members with all the details.
Our year is moving along so quickly and we're already starting to plan for the gala. Thanks to those who have volunteered to join the Committee. Everyone is encouraged to get sponsors and/or draw prizes. The more the merrier!
Nomination forms are available from the website after Feb. 26. Who do you know who would be a great nominee for WOMAN OF THE YEAR? Not sure what to do? Contact a member of the Executive Committee and we'll help you out.

The restaurant will be following the Covid Protocol that is currently in place
at their establishment

Our RSVP numbers are submitted to Kelseys that day as they need to know
numbers for staffing
If you reserved your dinner spot and can’t attend please contact us right away so that
we can try and fill the spot with someone else that may be on a waiting list.
As always we welcome all women to the OBWA and we are encouraging our members
to bring a guest or two to our March meeting!
We have brought back some of our old traditions to our OBWA Dinner Meetings! Toonies for Toiletries where the money collected goes for hygiene products for those in need in the community
The Sharing Place are desperately in need of Donations. We will be collecting non-perishable food items and as well Clean Reusable Grocery Bags which we will donate to the Orillia Sharing Place

In March OBWA Members Donated 27 pounds of food to The Sharing Place
As well we will be doing a 50/50 draw at each meeting!

Member's Showcase of Businesses
Members: Reserve your SHOWCASE Spot when you reserve your dinner spot. You will be given 3-5 minutes to present your business, showcase a product or service. You are invited to set up a small display as well. If you haven't reserved a SHOWCASE spot, we may not have time to include you- avoid disappointment and sign up early!

Guest Speaker – Kevin Gangloff – Orillia Youth Centre
Kevin Gangloff has worked with youth for over 25+ years. From starting his career as a teacher at an Alternative School, to work in the youth addiction, homelessness and gang involved youth to now working at the Orillia Youth Centre, his entire career has been youth focused and driven. Kevin is originally from the USA and now lives in Downtown Orillia with his wife and two cats and is the proud son of US Marine.

Nominations for WOMAN OF THE YEAR are now open. Please contact a member of the Executive Committee or download the nomination forms from our website.
OBWA is also looking for Sponsorships from our members and from the community.
Forms will be available from the Gala Committee after Feb. 26th.
We are encouraging all paid members in good standing to update their Slide Show so we have one for each of our members. This slide show is shown at each of our meetings and lets those in attendance know who you are and what your business is. It is one of the perks of being a paid member. Corry Ticknor can take care of that for you but she needs your particulars so please contact her with your information. Also by being a paid member we encourage all members to make sure they have their business information on the Shop Orillia Site. It is free and all you have to do is register on the site. It is a great way to advertise your business online!

Starting at our October meeting and running until September 2024 we will be honouring our OBWA members in good standing with Birthdays in that month. When you attend our Dinner Meeting the month of your Birthday we will waive your $5 event fee. Those having Birthdays in May, June, July and August will have their event fee waived accordingly. Please make sure you let Susan Zaroski know the month of your Birthday so she can get you on our Birthday Month list. She will be sitting at the door at the meeting to take the information from you or if you wish please e-mail your Birthday Month to Networking@OrilliaBusinessWomen.com
Please note: Memberships were due September 1st , 2023 & need to be paid for you to be a member in good standing. $100 membership fee will keep you a member in good standing until August 31,2024 . Members have the privilege of posting on social media & have their information about their business and themselves on our website as well as posting on Face Book. Non-members can attend meetings though without the other privileges. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact one of our executive members.
