Did you know that our Canadian Seasons affect our lash retention?

Thank goodness we are having a winter thaw! You will notice your lash extension retention will improve until the next cold snap.

There isn't a glue out there made for sub zero temperatures.

There is a science to the adhesive and how it cures. (I will do a separate post about that later - knowledge is power).

Each Lash Adhesive needs the humidity levels to be perfect. As well different adhesives requires different humidity levels. The adhesive we use in the summer is different from the adhesive in the winter.

In general summers we fight too much humidity. In the winter it is dry without enough humidity. We all have to heat our homes - our humidity levels in our homes are generally low & dry this time of year. The bitter cold does not allow for proper curing. Not only that just as our skin and hair become dry, so too do our lashes. You may have noticed your lashes simply falling off your natural lash.

There is good news and bad news in that. The good news is, the are simply falling off and not causing harm to your natural lashes. The bad news is during the bitterly cold time it is much harder too maintain the fullness lash extensions provide. Time between fills needs to be shortened during the cold spell. Brush your lashes less and lightly. If you have oily skin, there in-lies a whole other problem affecting retention.

If we chose to over compensate with more glue, we would create an even larger problem for you and your lashes. Remember it is all in the curing of the adhesive. If we over compensate with more glue....it's not curing properly. You will end up with a sticky clumpy gluey mess and lashes stuck together side by side.

Your lashes do not grow at the same time, the lash that is growing the fastest is going to pull out the lashes on either side, so the end result would be gaps in your lashes or broken lashes with uncured glue around your eyes and face.

We can control the humidity and environment in the lash studio, however once you step outside our doors - we are all at the mercy of mother nature.

I tell my clients this...if you went to Home Depot and bought Gorilla glue and tried to glue something together when it's -20 or more outside, do you think you would have a good bond? The answer is a no.

Feel free to pass this information to any of your friends who have lash extensions. We believe that understanding how the glue works and cures will help you maintain the health of your lashes & extend the life of your extensions.

Our motto has always been lash health first! It takes 2 to maintain healthy lashes....your lash tech & you (your aftercare).
