Our Memberships

Kim is a caring dedicated professional devoted to helping you feel your best by facilitating healing using the time-honored techniques of acupuncture, tuina massage, cupping and heat therapies. Each session consists of an assessment, followed by a treatment tailored to your condition; which consists of one or more modalities. The average treatment takes between 1 and 2 hours.
Kim spent 3 years studying Acupuncture Therapy to receive her diploma with high honors from the SSC Acupuncture Institute in Toronto. With 20 years of experience as an instructor and personal trainer in the health and fitness industry, she loved helping people find better wellness. Kim was then compelled by life’s circumstances to follow her lifelong calling of becoming a health care practitioner. Since she’s been doing acupuncture she’s been thrilled with the amazing results that the treatments really have. Her favorite quote from one of her former instructors is “This stuff really works.”

Acupuncture For Health is a quiet, home-based clinic with a serene and beautifully decorated setting. Parking is available.

Kim is a member of CSCMA, the Canadian Society of Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture.

Kim is also registered with the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Therapists and Acupuncturists in Ontario (CTCMPAO). R. Ac. #2221

ACUPUNCTURE
Acupuncture has a 3000-year history that is based upon Eastern or Chinese Medicine’s concepts that areexplained using the idea of something called chi (qi) energy. Qi is considered to be the “stuff” that warms the body, fights disease and links all parts and functions of the body. Qi circulates throughout the body along meridians or channels. When there is not enough qi or the flow stagnates then symptoms arise. Acupuncture therapy is given using very fine needles that are inserted into specific points with a goal of promoting healthy body function by normalizing the flow of qi.

CUPPING
Cupping is very beneficial in softening the underlying contracted congested muscle tissue with only a few minutes of massage. Movement of large cups across the skin mimics the rolling action of myofascial release without the discomfort. The skin reddens indicating that circulation has been brought to the surface. The pulling action also engages the parasympathetic nervous system, which causes a deep relaxation to move through the entire body. Cupping can also be focused on specific acupuncture points and or meridians to address stagnation of qi and blood; promoting a rebalancing specific to your health issues.

INFRARED HEAT LAMP THERAPY
The heat produced by the ceramic heating element of the Far Infrared Heater (FIH) is a very comfortable level of heat that is deeply absorbed by the body. The sun emits far infrared radiation. In an analogy that helps us understand the kind of warmth that this is to think of a 75-degree room in the winter vs a 75-degree room in the summer. The difference in how the heat feels is due to the lack of FIH in the winter months due to the axis of the earth.

The FIH may be used with the acupuncture needles to help stimulate the effects of the needles. FIR heat has also been used by medical practitioners to treat sprains, strains, bursitis, peripheral vascular disease, arthritis, and muscle pain. Fir heat warms the body, increasing capillary blood flow. Increased capillary blood helps to carry more oxygen and nutrients to the cell and carry away metabolic cellular waste.

MOXIBUSTION
The mugwort is aged and then ground into a fluff, or processed further into a stick that resembles a (non-smokable) cigar. Moxa is burned to produce an intense heat that indirectly warms the acupuncture needles.

TRADITIONAL CHINESE MEDICAL ASSESSMENT
Using the time-honored traditional method of the ten questions, tongue and pulse diagnose an assessment is done that will determine what systemic imbalances may be present that are leading to symptoms of a disease. Based on the diagnosis, a treatment protocol will be determined that will involve a series of appointments including any of the following modalities: acupuncture, dietary & lifestyle adjustments, tui na massage, cupping, Infra Red Heat Lamp Therapy, ear acupuncture/seeds/intradermal needles, and Moxabustion. Note: Unless the condition being treated is clearly a musculoskeletal injury, or the causes are apparent, the treatments will always start with an appointment that involves an assessment and counseling.

TUI NA MASSAGE
Tui na involves acupoint stimulation, and manipulation using dynamic maneuvers, including pushing, rolling, kneading, rubbing, and grasping.
