When I decided to re-enter into the workforce after the birth of my son, I knew that the work I was doing needed to be important to me. I have been an exhibiting artist since I graduated from OCAD in 2001; however, I have always been interested in the business aspect of art. This is what led me to open my own gallery. Lee Contemporary Art is a curated rental gallery that exhibits emerging and mid-career artists. It is a fun and non-intimidating environment exhibiting original pieces of artwork inclined towards playful, cutting edge, progressive and modern art. I hope to create a type of culture around Lee Contemporary Art here in Orillia, by not only holding great exhibitions but by also hosting special events such as monthly “Collaboration Workshops”, In-Gallery Wine Tastings, and incorporating live music whenever possible.
