Join the Library
A library card is free if you are a resident of the City of Orillia or the Township of Oro Medonte and the Township of Severn. The Orillia Public Library contracts with the Township of Oro-Medonte and the Township of Severn to provide library membership to township residents and taxpayers. OPL bills the townships directly for each membership. Residents of Barrie and Midland are eligible for free Orillia Public Library membership through reciprocal agreements (proof of residence in Barrie or Midland plus a valid Barrie or Midland Public Library card is required). Orillia Public Library members are entitled to the same privilege at Barrie and Midland public libraries.
An agreement also exists with Georgian College and Lakehead University. Georgian College and Lakehead University students must present their student card along with current address identification to obtain an Orillia Public Library card free of charge. (The Orillia Public Library reserves the right to ask for proof of school enrollment.) Orillia Public Library members are entitled to the same privilege at the Library Commons at Georgian College and Lakehead University.
If you are not eligible for a free library card, a household membership can be purchased at the following rates: $150 for one year, $80 for six months. We offer individual monthly memberships for $15/month per person.
Adults and students in Grade 9 or above must provide proof of identification and proof of address to obtain a library card. Your library card must be shown each time you want to borrow material.
Please take care of your library card. You are responsible for any items borrowed on it and for any charges that may result from late, lost or damaged materials. Changes in personal information, such as address, telephone number or email address should be reported immediately.

Lost Card
If you lose your library card, please notify us immediately as you are responsible for all materials signed out on your card.
There is a $2.00 replacement fee for a lost or damaged card.
